What was life in Guernsey really like under Nazi rule?

How the diaries came to light

When Ruth Ozanne died in 1970 the complete set of 16 volumes of diaries and related albums were stored where they remained for many years. The diaries finally came to light in 2009 when the owner sought advice about a suitable permanent archive home for the original notebooks in which the diaries are written and it was decided that they should be donated to the Priaulx Library in St. Peter Port where they will be available to future students of the German occupation. In 2011 the diaries were published by Amberley Publishing.
